guests : bean & bailey
"Bean and Bailey" is made up of twenty-somethings Bradley Bean and Jackson Bailey. This musically-inclined comedy duo offers a unique and refreshing act to the field of entertainment with their so-called "acoustic comedy." A "Bean and Bailey" show includes original tunes, parodies, and cover songs. The defining element of their act, however, is that all of the music is cleverly interwoven with humorous dialogue and well-rehearsed timing, reminiscent of the Smothers Brothers of a generation ago.
Bradley Bean (a former elementary school teacher) and Jackson Bailey (a former youth minister) began performing together in 1996 while students at Carson-Newman College in Jefferson City, TN. At Carson-Newman, Bean was just beginning to learn guitar and to sing in front of small audiences, while Bailey was landing roles in campus theater productions. Dormitory life, thus, gave the two an opportune setting for laying the foundation of their musical comedy act.
Their repertoire today includes a lament to the atrocities of road kill, a sketch on a chance meeting of Elvis Presley and Michael Jackson, and a love song about the Wal-Mart greeter. The show also includes Jackson's high-energy rock song about donuts, and a ballad to women from Bradley (who is slightly overweight) to stop loving him for his body. An audience favorite is a medley of recognizable pop tunes, in which Jackson can't seem to remember the correct lyrics to the songs (which of course draw correction and criticism from Bradley). Two sketches very popular with church groups are "Depends," a parody of Michael W. Smith's "Friends," and "Butter My Biscuits," a parody of Bob Carlisle's "Butterfly Kisses." College-life, dating, and most recently marriage are some of the recurring themes in the show.
Based out of Knoxville, TN, "Bean and Bailey" brings its laughter act to all types of churches, conferences, colleges, and corporate meetings throughout the United States. This comedy duo is being welcomed enthusiastically as a refreshing alternative in the lineup of today's quality, clean entertainment. A "Bean and Bailey" show is sure to be professional, hilarious, and most definitely original.
